Negotiations Update: Board Delivers New Offer to Teacher's Union, IELRB
Oct. 23, 2018
Today, the Geneva 304 Board of Education delivered a new proposal to the Geneva
Education Association (GEA), the union that represents our District’s
approximately 450 certified teachers, for their consideration. Additionally, as
required by the formal dispute resolution process initiated by the GEA, we have
also submitted this offer to the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board
(IELRB) for posting and it is currently posted on our District website at this link.
In this most recent proposal, the Board once again increased its salary offer
from $1,800 to $2,050 annually or $6,150 over the course of a three-year
contract. Additionally, this proposal includes starting teacher salaries that
are higher than what the GEA last proposed. The Board views these proposed
salary increases as part of the “total compensation” paid to teachers.
We look forward to receiving GEA’s response to our new proposal during the
negotiation session scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. this evening. The Board
will continue to provide proactive and timely updates on our offers and the
status of negotiations in the spirit of transparency and fiscal responsibility.
Please show your support of District 304 schools and students by continuing to
call upon both the Board and the union to keep talking and to work in good
faith under the guidance of the impartial federal mediator to achieve a
contract agreement without disruption to our schools, students and families.
Sincerely,
Geneva CUSD 304 Board of Education
